Howdy, my name is Dawson Fields and I am a software developer from Dallas, Texas.
Here’s a little bit about me:
Ever since I can remember, I enjoyed teaching myself how things worked. Whether it was microwaves or cell phones, I had a passion for breaking down and reconstructing objects to learn about their inner workings. Eventually, I wanted to develop my own projects. By 6th grade, curious about electricity and magnetism; I designed and built a Van de Graaff generator utilizing mostly left over supplies around the house.
So why did I decide to study the field of Computer Science?
My passion for creating things didn’t manifest itself in the physical world alone. I wanted to create things digitally. As a middle school kid, I enjoyed playing Minecraft and wanted to add custom items and blocks into the game that didn’t already exist. I soon found out that I could create my own objects using Java. So, I ended up teaching myself how to program in Java when I was thirteen. From there, I created a handful of games in Unity3D. Through this tool, I was also able to conceptualize and design a 400 square foot pergola for my Eagle Scout project. I continued to learn independently and by also taking four years of computer science classes in high school. Since I enjoyed it so much, I decided to make a career out of it.
While at Texas A&M, I have excelled in a variety of new disciplines and extracurricular projects outlined in this site. Click here to learn more about them!
